Urban Foundry are pleased to welcome two new interns to their Academy; Shaunna Bowen and Calum Lewis. Both have just completed their second year of a BA Graphic Design Degree.
Shaunna and Calum will be working on the rebrand of two initiatives – a digital radio station and an eco-clothing range. These will be included in Urban Foundry’s growing portfolio of projects that already boasts an award-winning market and popular event space.
Tara Tarapetian from Urban Foundry says, “The Academy’s success is based on linking up talented students with real projects that they can shape and make a difference to. They gain valuable experience and we benefit from their enthusiasm, skills and ideas. Many of the interns who join us via The Academy go on to paid work with us.”
UWTSD Lecturer and Course Director Donna Williams said, “We are delighted that Shaunna and Calum have secured an internship with Urban Foundry. The BA Graphic Design course encourages all of our students to aim for this working design experience. Calum and Shaunna are second years heading into the third year and are already proving themselves to be ‘ones to watch’ in Graphic Design. The work that is produced on internships can be included in the ‘Graduate Portfolio’ module which includes working with external clients and is a valuable part of the degree.”
The placements are supported by internship funding via Research Innovation and Enterprise Services (RIES) at UWTSD.
