Roisin Hannon, who studies BA (Hons) Event Management at University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is the latest student to join the Urban Foundry Academy (set up through our not for profit arm). The Academy works with talented students from UWTSD and Swansea University, both of which we have very strong links with.
Roisin joined us in February and has already worked on our street markets and some of our pop-up events. She’s also helping us to launch a new series of change-making events called 51.6.
Students who have previously worked with us gain credible work experience and employability skills. All the feedback outlines what an important, valuable and exciting experience they have with us.
Roisin says, “Working for Urban Foundry really enhances my Degree and allows me to gain experience that will impress future employers. I’ve already helped the team organise and run events. Last week I was directing stallholders at Marina Market and this week I was helping run some lunchtime classical concerts in a shopping centre. It’s a supportive environment and an opportunity to put my studies into practice”
Suzanne Wells, UWTSD Event Management Programme Director (and Roisin’s Lecturer) said, “It’s important for students to gain as much relevant work experience as they can. It equips them with excellent employability skills and makes them more attractive to employers when they graduate. Swansea Business School has strong links with local employers and we work very closely with them to find exciting internship opportunities”
