The idea
The Do Not Go Gentle Festival is an established arts festival that celebrates the legacy of Dylan Thomas. Do Not Go Gentle’s Artistic Director Pierre Donahue approached Urban Foundry to upgrade the administrative procedures, marketing and also move the Festival from Uplands to the City Centre.
What we did
We worked with the Festival to develop a new website, marketing materials, online sales, box office and to attract new volunteers and sponsors, as well as moving the event to its new home in the city centre.
Unit Nineteen (another Urban Foundry project) hosted the main event at the Festival; a lively panel debating the impact and sense behind Brexit. This was led by award winning comedian, political activist, writer and speaker Francesca Martinez. It was a much-anticipated climax to the two-day festival of poetry, music, spoken word and events that ran across independent venues in Swansea City Centre.
Results of our work
The process of purchasing a ticket was simplified by moving the box office online and the new marketing material supported the sales process. We improved the Festival’s administrative processes, but also brought the 2017 event to a new and diverse audience – enhancing both the Festival’s success and Swansea’s rich cultural scene.
