Urban Foundry recently organised a series of drop-in craft workshops in Quadrant Shopping, Swansea. This was part of our ongoing work with Bewonder*, Quadrant Shopping’s marketing agency.
Our two local artists engaged over 150 shoppers in intergenerational crafts such as plant pot painting, still life, knitting and clay picture frames. It was part of Quadrant Shopping’s drive to encourage creativity. In particular it aimed to attract people of all ages and teach families exciting crafts that they can do together.
This follows on from the lunchtime concerts we ran in February half term where we transformed the middle of the shopping centre into a concert hall and hosted a pianist, classical singer, string quartet and a harpist.
Lucy Beddall at Urban Foundry said:
“We are passionate about the arts and celebrating Swansea’s rich culture. Art should be inclusive and we loved organising these creative sessions to encourage families to sit down together and learn new skills. It’s even more interesting to do this in a shopping environment”
