Urban Foundry helping to shape Swansea’s future

Urban Foundry helping to shape Swansea’s future

Bringing our expertise to Swansea’s regeneration

At Urban Foundry, we are leaders in urban regeneration and effective public and stakeholder engagement. Recently, we were invited by Swansea Council to help engage a range of people and organisations with their Swansea City Centre placemaking plans.

We’ve been working as part of a consortium led by Carter Jonas and involving a range of other consultancies, including architects ACME.

Facilitating meaningful community engagement

We set up and ran the Future Swansea drop-in centre at the former Cranes Music Store in Swansea. These sessions created a welcoming space for residents, business owners, and stakeholders to share their visions and concerns, ensuring everyone felt involved in the planning process.

We also provided play activities for children to allow them to have their say through play and also so that adults could focus on giving feedback – something that worked extremely well.

The sessions were a huge success – they were really busy and engaged over 800 people.

Expert-led workshops and inclusive activities

As well as the public drop-in, we conducted invite-only workshops for businesses and organisations, where our experienced facilitators guided participants through activities to gather valuable insights and ideas.

A natural partner for urban regeneration

Our expert knowledge and extensive experience in urban regeneration made us the perfect partner for Swansea Council. Our track record in community engagement and understanding of how towns and cities work ensured the engagement was a success. We are passionate about creating vibrant, sustainable city centres that reflect community aspirations and work for everyone.

Looking ahead

The feedback from these sessions is now shaping Swansea City Centre’s future. We are proud to have played a role and look forward to positive outcomes from the Council’s new placemaking plan. At Urban Foundry, we remain committed to projects that enhance urban spaces and community wellbeing.
